Over the last few years, the green cause has hit our high street shops, from organic and sustainable produce to ethical wear. in 2007, ethical or ‘green’ wear hit the catwalk and designer scene, making it somewhat of a serious fad.

Ethical wear is available from a few high street shops – these usually label the items as 100% organically grown cotton or fair-trade. Fairtrade means it was grown fairly without the use of child or slave labour, whilst an organic item is grown and produced naturally without the use of man-made fibres, which often create pollution via the process they are made.

Ethical wear has mostly produced till this point the every day items, such as t-shirts and jeans. Moreover, the green bug is now spreading to party wear. Items include luxury hand-made wool from the British Isles, which have been utilised to create those sexy little black dresses; jewellery made from recycled goods (including other jewellery), classy dresses create out of abandoned material and organic silk outfits. all of this screams of luxury, without damaging the environment.

Ethical wear is not only more natural, but more care is taken to create it, hence you will often find an ethical green outfit to be slightly more durable and long lasting, particularly outfits created out of 100% cotton. if you are a girl who loves her accessories, there are a number of ‘green’ accessories on the market, including hats, tights and shoes – all of which will add that little sparkle to your Christmas party outfit.

As the ‘green’ market grows so does the choices – in fact you are no longer limited to the basic outfits and colours, as designers have begun to work hard on the ethical approach to clothing. ‘Green’ clothing has become the latest fashion statement in the fashion industry and has begun to grow to the high street shops, making ‘green’ clothing available to everyone.
