The LA Lakers would not have been at the forefront of success if not for the players, past and present, who have worked hard to make their dreams attainable. but before the present wonders such as Kobe Bryant made it big, there were the legends who made each game exciting. One of these legendary players was a man called Magic Johnson, who spun his tricks on the hardcourt. Lakers tickets to games that Magic Johnson played sold fast and good.

Personal life

Earvin Johnson Jr. was born on August 14, 1959 in Lansing Michigan. Johnson developed a love for the game as a young child, and went on to play for his high school team, Everett High. The name Magic was eventually coined when a 15-year-old Johnson was spotted by Fred Stabley Jr., a local sports writer, who commented on the fast moves and the big stack of points earned by the young Johnson. The newly christened Magic Johnson then led Everett High towards the state championships in his senior year.

Do You Like Facebook’s IPO?

Recently there has been much anticipation surrounding the IPO (initial public offering) that the company was rumored to file in an attempt to raise a record $5 to $10 billion dollars. this filing became a reality on February 1, 2012 when the IPO was submitted to the SEC along with a letter, from Zuckerberg, to investors and shareholders. in the letter Zuckerberg explains his mission to possible and existing shareholders and the plans and goals of the future of Facebook. no doubt his hope is that the Facebook will hit the stock market around May of 2012 and will become the world’s most valuable internet company to date.

There are numerous investment banks involved in the IPO’s underwriting and investment plans, with Morgan Stanley leading the pack. It seems as if much of the information about the IPO is being leaked at this point, is not coming from Facebook itself, but from some of the investment banks. because these companies stand to lose a hefty sum of money, should they be dropped from Facebook’s list of financial institutions, they appear to have succumbed to Zuckerberg’s recent plea to stop talking about the impending publicly traded company. Facebook is attempting to keep their economic future as private as they possibly can.

Investment banks are not the only ones that have their eyes on Facebook’s prize. California has felt the effects of the recession more than many states. in June of 2004 Facebook moved to Palo Alto, California and despite the economic times, Facebook has continued to prosper and grow. with the IPO now looming in the midst, Zuckerberg is not the only one that stands to make some serious cash with somewhere around twenty shares of the company. The State of California has the possibility of looking forward not only to capital gains from Facebook employees becoming overnight Silicon Valley millionaires, but also the revenue it stands to make on the taxes Facebook will have to pay the state in the years to come.

With the opportunities that are opening up around the world to soon take a flight on a vehicle that can fly you alone or with others to the edge of space, we will take a look at whom some of the prime developers and entrepreneurs are. News Feed changes

In one of the latest updates, Facebook has changed the way your News Feed is displayed. the News Feed is what you can find in the center column when you click on the ‘Home’ link on the top navigation bar of your Facebook screen. This is where your friends’ (the people and pages you follow) news is being displayed.

Most people hear Jeremiah 29:11 when they are graduating from high school or college, or when they are going through a difficult time. it states For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Many people get the warm fuzzies from reading this passage of Scripture, but it also helps if you understand the context behind the book of Jeremiah. it was written by the prophet Jeremiah who lived during the last days of Judah before they fall to the Babylonians. Jeremiah lives in the time of the King of Josiah, and then he lives through the fall of Jerusalem to the Babylonians, and he gives direction to the Jews on how to live in exile.

There are actually two groups of people that Jeremiah addresses in his book. He addresses the Jews that have been exiled out of Jerusalem, and he also addresses those people who have stayed in the land of Judah. Jeremiah tells the stubborn people who stayed that they would be destroyed. For the people who are in exile, they are very worried about the future. The people don’t know if they will ever be able to return to their homeland, and they don’t know where to begin. Jeremiah reassures the Jews that God still has a plan for their lives even when they are in exile.

As for how Jeremiah 29:11 applies to our lives today, God sees everything that is going on in our lives. He knows the struggles you are facing today. in the day of exile, the people did not have any hope, but the Lord was still watching over their lives. no matter how difficult your life circumstances may be today, God still have plans to give you a hope and a future.

Recently the major right wing conservative talk show pundits have played continuously an excerpt from Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s sermon in which he calls America to account, after which the Pastor challenges the typically uttered cliche God bless America with a provoking God damn America.

As a minister I do not find the Pastor’s sermons disturbing in the least. After all a good sermon should afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted. this Rev. Wright has truly done. Rev. Wright and his church very actively help the poor in his community and empower the disenfranchised, while simultaneously loving white citizens and confronting the arrogance of the self-righteous establishment governmentally propagating war without end.

Rush Limbaugh thought to call the Pastor of Obama’s church in Chicago, Jeremiah Wright, to account reciting an excerpt from one of his sermons in which the Rev. said in 2001 shortly after the 9/11 attacks:

Growing up, I remember waiting anxiously for the beginning of the Memorial Day parade in our little neighborhood. It passed by a block away from my house. my sisters and brother, I and some friends would get there early enough to get a seat on the curb. then at the end of the parade, we would follow it to the cemetery. We would walk through looking at all the flowers that had been placed on the graves.

Memorial Day weekend marks the beginning of the summer vacation season. The school year comes to an end, vacations are planned and picnics are prepared. my mom would get up early in the morning to start cooking our picnic meal. Fried chicken, potato salad and baked beans would be on the menu.

Memorial Day was first observed in may 30, 1868. Now it is a federal holiday that falls on the last Monday in may. Formerly known as Decoration Day, it was enacted to honor fallen soldiers that served in the Union and Confederate Armies. After WWI, Memorial Day was extended to honor American servicewomen and men who have died in all wars.
